Literature Text

Five years had passed since that fateful day. Richard and Vera had never been happier because now, Willy had grown to a young fivr year old boy. He was a favorite all throughout the village. He was a bright young boy and was very kind and sweet. Although he was a little shy when it ca,e to people. He also had become a good swimmer thanks to his father's and his mother's teachings. He knew how to fish and he loved played with the creatures that lived in the ocean. One day Vera was walking with a basket full groceries in her hand doing some shopping. She came up to a vegetable stand hoping to get some veggies for dinner. Then a familiar face of the shop came from the back of the shop and greeted her warmly.

Taki: Hey! Vera! Good ta see you!

Vera: Hello there Taki. How are you?

Taki: I'm doin' fine thank you. Can I interest you in anything today?

Vera: Yes. I'll take a head of lettuce, three carrots, and two tomatoes please.

Taki: Sure thing. You making something special today?

Vera: No. It's nothing special. Just some dinner for my husband and my little boy. How have things been since you've been working here?

Taki: Very good. Although it's kinda boring not watching Richard all the time. Heh. I almost miss worrying about him.

Taki got the vegetables Vera requested and gave them to Vera after she had paid for them.

Taki: So how are things going for you?

Vera: Very good. Richard and I have never been happier and more busy.

Taki: That's to be expected. Having a kid makes things more fun and more busy. Speaking of which, where is the little squirt anyway? Doesn't usually go shopping with you?

Vera: Usually, but today he's with his father on a fishing trip I remember when he was 3, he always went with me. Now and days and he joins his father whenever he can.

Taki: That sounds like your son. After all, he's loved the water ever since you two taught him how to swim and how to fish. In fact, I think it's safe to say that he's the best swimmer in the village. Even better than his old man.

Vera: (chuckle) Of course. He has his father's spirit. He goes wherever the water takes him. That's what makes him special.

Far off the coast of the village close to a small cliff, a young boy stood there enjoying the view of the ocean. He was dark toned with short black hair and wore a pair of black shorts. As the waves crashed on the cliff, he took a deep breath savoring the salty air. A few feet from his position, Richard was fishing in the boat as well as watching the boy. He had to admit it, his son looked pretty cool standing there on the rocks. Eventually he got up stretched and called out to him.

Richard: Yo! Willy! It's time to get come back son! We gotta head home or your Mom'll get worried!

Willy: Coming Papa!

Willy took a deep breath, jumped, and dove into the water. He swam towards his fathers boat in a very fast speed under the water. Richard looked for Willy, but he didn't see him.

Richard: Willy? Where are you son?

Then suddenly, a shower of water sprayed Richard in the face surprising him. Then another spray of water hit him. This time the back of his head. Then he got sprayed from his right, his left and behind him. Now Richard was soaking wet. While he sputtered and wiped his face off, Willy popped up from the water and snickered at his prank.

Willy: Hahaha. I got you Papa! Willy the sea monster got you!

Richard said nothing. Then he grinned mischievously.

Richard: So you did huh? Well then 'Willy the sea monster' I think it's time, I slay the monster! Come here you!

Richard lifted Willy out of the water and began to tickle him making Willy giggle with delight. Finally after a few minutes of tickling Richard set Willy down while ruffling his hair.

Richard: I gotta say son, you definitely have improved on your swimming skills. You really got me back there.

Willy: Really? You think so Papa?

Richard: I know so son. You remind me of myself when I was your age. Anyway, let's get back home. Your mom's gonna be wondering where we're at.

Then Richard adjusted the sail and the boat began to move on bound back to the village. Willy looked over the ocean with a smile on his face as the endless ocean passed him by. Later they made it back to the port. When they got there, a crowd of other fishermen were bustling around doing their work. As they got off the ship and headed back for their house, Willy stayed close to his dad by staying close to his leg. You see, Willy may have been the best swimmer in the village, but he was also a little shy. He wasn't used to be being around so many people. Richard and Vera knew this, but they didn't mind. They knew that their son will open up when he was ready. Soon the two of them made it home. Vera was inside the house washing the vegetables she bought in the shop.

Richard: Honey! We're home!

Vera: Oh! Welcome home you two.

Willy: Mama!

Willy ran towards his mom and his mom met him with a big hug.

Vera: Hey there Willy. How's my special little guy's day?

Willy: Great Mama! I helped Papa catch lots of fish today. I also got to see tons of other fishes too!

Vera: Well done Willy. You should feel proud.

She gave a Willy a pat on the head making Willy grin with pride.

Willy: Thanks Mama.

Vera: Tell you what. Since you two have worked so hard, I'll make you a hearty dinner.

Willy and Richard: All right! Sounds awesome!

Vera: All right then. Now Willy, go wash up for dinner. Can't have you eating when your hands are dirty.

Willy: Yes Mama.

And with that, Willy went to wash up for dinner, leaving Richard and Vera alone.

Vera: So anything special happen today?

Richard: Same as usual. Willy helped me fish and he swam in the water. I gotta say, it makes me proud to see him swim like that.

Vera: A chip off the old block. Wouldn't you agree?

Richard: You bet. I taught him everything he knows after all. Fishing, swimming, everything. Except for how to pick up a girl. Maybe I should teach him to how to. Hehehe.

Vera: Richard!

Vera hearing that comment gave Richard a stern look. Clearly she didn't like that idea. Richard chuckled.

Richard: Come on honey. I was just joking around. Besides, he's way to young to be worrying about girls. Especially with how shy he is.

Vera: Whew. That's good because if you were serious about that...

Then Vera gave Richard a glare and a demon visage appeared behind her making Richard cringe and break into a sweat.

Vera: Then I would have no choice, but to teach you a lesson in teaching unnecessary stuff to our child.

Richard: Eeep!!! Whoa! Take it easy Vera! I was just kidding! I swear! I'm not gonna teach Willy that sort of thing! I promise!

Vera: You promise?

Richard: I promise! Just please don't kill me!

Vera: Okay. As long as you understand. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll have to go and make dinner. I'll call you and Willy when it's ready.

Vera went back to the kitchen as if nothing ever happened. Richard however let out a sigh of relief.

Richard: Oh man. When she gets like that... (shudders) she's like a demon. I just hope Willy doesn't pick up her demon mask. If he does (shudder), I don't even wanna think about it.

Later, after dinner was done and night fell, Willy was getting ready for bed. His mom and dad had tucked him and they were reading him a story before he went to bed. It was one of Willy's favorite stories. It was about a wizard who nothing more an ordinary person, but eventually he joins a guild and helps save a town and finds his one true love. When Vera finished reading, Willy couldn't help but feel stoked about the book his mom read to him.

Willy: Wow Mama! That was a great story!

Vera: I'm glad you liked it.

Willy: Wow. The guy in the story was so cool! When I grow up, I wanna be just like him. A wizard hero!

Vera: Is that so? Hahaha. Well you can be anything you want to be son. You just have to work hard and be the best you can be.

Willy: Really? You think so Mama?

Richard: She knows so son. You can be anything you want to be. If you live life to the fullest and be yourself as well as work hard, there's nothing you can't do son.

Willy: Really Papa?

Richard: Of course! You're our son. We have absolute faith in you. If you wanna go and be a hero, then by all means go for it. We'll support you all the way.

Willy smiled in a toothless grin and hugged his parents, then he yawned.

Richard: Oops. Looks like someone's getting sleepy.

Vera: Time for bed Willy.

Willy: Okay. Night Mama. Night Papa.

Richard: Sleep well son.

Then they tucked Willy in and turned off the light. Willy closed his eyes and went to sleep. Richard and Vera went into their own bedroom and got ready for bed. As Vera got dressed, Richard lied down in his bed looking up at the ceiling. From the looks of it, he seemed very deep in thought about something.

Vera: Something on your mind Richard?

Richard: I was just thinking about Willy.

Vera: What about him? Is there something wrong?

Richard: Nothing. It's just that... I can't believe how much he's grown. He's only 5 years old and he's already got a dream. A dream to be a hero.

Vera: I know. Seems like a big dream huh?

Richard: Yeah. Definitely a big one.

Vera: You worried that he won't achieve his dream?

Richard: Nah. Besides, he's our son. I have no doubt that he'll achieve his dream. I have absolute confidence in him.

Vera: Hehehe. Glad to hear it. Me too. In fact, It'll be interesting to see what he grows up to. I just hope we live long enough to see it.

Richard: Yeah. Not to mention that he's gotta learn some magic. But we'll worry about that later. Anyhoo, I'm gonna get some sleep. Night Vera.

Vera: Night Richard.

Then both of them went to sleep. Meanwhile on the edge of the village, a group of men were heading towards the village. They all were wearing grey masks on their faces with an odd purple symbol that hid their faces with the exception of their mouths. They looked sinister and evil. They were a dark cult that worshiped the Dark Arts and their goal to finish a magic tool called The R System. They had one goal in mind. Kidnap all the children in the village and take them to work on The R System. One of the men who was the leader stepped forward and spoke to the rest of them.

Leader: Listen up. You know the drill. Go through the village and gather all the children you can find. If you find any adults, kill them. We've had a good haul from Rosemary Village, so let's get some more.

The men nodded and smiled evilly ready to begin. The leader turned towards the village and raised his sword.

Leader: Now... Attack!
